Michal Drabik

Michał Drabik is a senior energy and climate policy specialist with extensive international experience in energy, industrial decarbonization, and just transition in carbon-intensive industries.

Since 2008, Mr. Drabik has worked in international settings, serving with NGOs, diplomatic missions, and international organizations. From 2015, at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), he led work on coal mine methane and just transition, transforming a technical expert group into a cross-cutting platform for coal-sector decarbonization and managing a portfolio of grant-funded projects across Europe and Central Asia. During his tenure, he established two self-financing International Centres of Excellence on Coal Mine Methane, in Poland and in China, and subsequently oversaw their development, helping them mature into successful platforms for knowledge exchange among governments, industry, and research institutions.

His expertise lies in designing interventions that shift system dynamics: regulatory frameworks that unlock investment, institutional partnerships that build durable capacity, and multi-stakeholder coalitions that generate political momentum for structural reform. Working at the intersection of industrial policy, energy systems, trade instruments, and development finance, he specializes in translating complex policy landscapes into actionable, investable strategies for industrial regions in transition.

Born in Warsaw, Poland, Mr. Drabik holds an MA in law from the University of Warsaw, an LL.M. from UCLA, and an MA in International Affairs with a focus on Energy from the Graduate Institute in Geneva. He has been a member of the New York State Bar since 2013. He lives with his wife in Geneva, Switzerland.
